Restaurant Description

Guu is the izakaya pioneer with the Japanese spirit in Canada. Started serving locals in Vancouver, they have reached Five locations in Vancouver, two locations in Toronto, and one in Sichuan, China today. Other than serving authentic izakaya food/drink, their warm and energetic loud greeting to patrons is one of their characters. Shout with us, "Guu is Guuu'd!"

This newborn Guu SakaBar established in the spring of 2011 follows the strong backbone as Izakaya for people. Guu will lead Toronto's Izakaya scene into another level community-based izakaya.

Lunch at Guu SakaBarWednesday, March 27th, 2013
I made my way to Guu Sakabar with a friend last week to check out their lunch menu. The first thing I noticed when I got there was that unlike dinner time, there were no crazy lineups *yay!* and secondly, the entire restaurant was beautifully decorated with hanging lanterns, and red, pink and white paper blossoms. So pretty.

Guu Sakabar Never DisappointsWednesday, December 5th, 2012
When it comes to izakaya (i.e. a Japanese drinking establishment which serves food to accompany drinks), I always default to Guu. Although there are several newly opened izakayas in downtown Toronto, I somehow find myself at either Guu SakaBar or Guu Izakaya whenever I have a craving for izakaya.

We chose a seat at the bar and settled in for what would be a very entertaining dinnerSaturday, April 2nd, 2011
Richard and I have been hearing about Guu Sakabar and its older brother Guu Izakaya for quite a while now. Guu is basically the Japanese equivalent of a pub. Itís loud, itís rowdy, and a lot of the food is deep-fried.
