SO, WHAT DOES GUSTO 101 MEAN?
Gusto? Literally, “tasty” in Italian. The 101 is where to find us on Portland street. We’re just a joint that serves nice food and wine.
WHO'S THE OWNER?
Gusto’s owner is Janet Zuccarini, owner of Trattoria Nervosa in Yorkville since 1996. Seasoned restaurateur. Certified pizziaola.
SO WHAT'S DIFFERENT?
You’ll find some unexpected global flavors (Latin, Moroccan, maybe even Caribbean). We’re also a micro-winery with wine on tap. Kind of different, no? Best of all, we’re affordable.
AND WHO IS THE CHEF?
Our chef, Daniel Mezzolo, has been cooking up a storm all over Italy, the Caribbean and even rural Ontario. We think he’s fun to watch in action, so we added a handful of seats next to the open kitchen.
TELL ME MORE ABOUT YOUR WINE ON TAP ... JUST LIKE NONNO USED TO MAKE?
No way, winemaker Alejandra de Miguel from Vintage One creates a tasty house wine to serve on tap at a $1 an ounce as well as some more serious barrel-aged selections. Keep tabs on upcoming barrel tastings on our Facebook page.
